Happy Holidays from Necochea, Argentina

Posted by Susan Stanley on

Hola

I'm here in sunny, Necochea, Argentina. It's a a port and beach city in the southwest of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. The city is located on the Atlantic coast, along the mouth of the Quequén Grande River, about 330 miles from Buenos Aires.

In October, after my show at The Old Fire Hall, in Whitehorse, by the way thanks to all who came out and made the show a huge success. After the show my girlfriend, Whitney and I travelled to Chile, the took a bus to Bariloche, Argentina, we stayed there for a couple of weeks, and then it was onto Nicochea, where we are building a home in very hot weather, every day it's over 30 degrees.

To cool off I will take a stroll a long the beach, luckily it is only a two minute walk from the house.

Sometimes there is a surprise waiting for us!

When I'm not working on the house or trying to cool off I can be found at the local bar, sketching, it's the only place that has wifi, and of course beer and wine. Here are a few of my sketches. I need to keep in practice for next year's show.

This first sketch is of a local dog, who likes to rest around the house, I guess he must feel safe with us. The other is some local entertainment at the bar.

We are having a lot of fun in Necochea, I can complain about the heat, but at my age, I think I need it, the sunshine renews my spirit, and by April I will be ready to return to Dawson, the place that holds my heart. Just a few more picture before signing off; the Argentines are known for their great barbecue dinners, here I'm attempting one. Hopefully my second attempt with be a bit more smooth!

Bon hasard et Joyeux Noël hâte de vous voir au printemps
